Project Scope

Cognizo approached District-22 to design the web app and dashboard interface for their platform. The goal was to create a user-friendly, visually appealing, and functional dashboard that allowed users to access key marketing metrics with ease.

The main objectives of the project were:

  • Web App UI/UX Design: Create a seamless user experience that integrates multiple marketing channels into a unified platform.
  • Dashboard Design: Provide clear, actionable insights and data visualizations that give users a high-level view of their marketing spend, budget, and performance.

Understanding Cognizo’s Needs

At the heart of Cognizo’s platform is the ability to provide users with a bird’s-eye view of their marketing efforts. It was essential to understand how Cognizo’s target audience—primarily marketing teams and agencies—would interact with the platform.

Key Features Required:

  • Marketing Channel Integration: Users needed to be able to connect and view all their marketing channels, such as Google Ads, Facebook Ads, Instagram, LinkedIn, and others, in a single dashboard.
  • Budget Tracking: The dashboard needed to display current spending, budget targets, and projections.
  • High-Level Snapshots: Quick insights into campaign performance with easy-to-read data visualizations.
  • Customization: The platform had to be flexible enough for users to tailor their dashboard according to their specific needs.

Web App UI/UX Design: Simplifying Complexity

Given the complex data Cognizo users manage daily, our focus was to create a clean, intuitive interface that simplifies the complexity of multi-channel marketing.

User-Centered Design Approach

We followed a user-centered design approach to ensure ease of navigation and accessibility. Our design process involved:

  • User Journey Mapping: We analyzed the typical flow of a user from logging in, connecting channels, viewing data, and adjusting marketing strategies based on insights. This allowed us to design a smooth and logical progression from one task to the next.
  • Simple and Consistent Navigation: We incorporated a left-hand side navigation bar that organizes the platform’s features such as campaign data, reports, and budgets. This ensures users can switch between views quickly.
  • Mobile-Responsive Design: Since marketing managers may need to access the dashboard on the go, we ensured that the design was fully responsive and accessible on smartphones and tablets.

Dashboard Design: Visualizing Data Effectively

For the dashboard, the challenge was to present detailed marketing metrics in a way that would not overwhelm the user. Data visualization needed to be concise yet informative.

Key Design Elements:

  • Real-Time Data Updates: To ensure marketers had the latest insights, we designed the dashboard to update in real time, providing accurate and up-to-date information on campaign performance.

Branding and Aesthetic Choices

The branding of Cognizo was modern, clean, and tech-driven, so we aimed to reflect this in the platform’s aesthetic. We used a minimalist design with a focus on typography and ample white space, allowing the data to be the focal point of each screen.

  • Color Scheme: We opted for a calming blue and gray palette with accent colors for call-to-action buttons and key data points. This balance ensured that important information was easy to spot, while also maintaining a professional look.
